How to Buy & Sell on Poshmark

How to Buy & Sell on Poshmark

Poshmark is a dream for shoppers who enjoy spending time rooting through the racks at Goodwill or the Salvation Army, but for whatever reason can’t seem to fit in weekly trips to those secondhand spots anymore.  If low cost, secondhand pieces are what you yearn to browse through, then Poshmark is the millennial way to shop secondhand.

If you’ve find that you love the thrill of shopping, but don’t seem to wear a lot of your purchases, then Poshmark is a great place for you to sell the overload of items bulging from your closet.

Buying on Poshmark is so easy…. Maybe even too easy…

Make an account (I urge you to use my code AUBREYFARABAUGH to get $5 toward your purchase and I’ll get $5 for referring you.  Or use a friend’s code if they are already on Poshmark, there’s no reason to miss out on a discount!) Here’s a link to sign up!  Poshmark is desktop compatible or download the app on your phone (which is for those who love convenience but do have some self-control… I warned you!)

Once you have an account on the app, choose brands you want to follow so when someone posts items from those brands you’ll see it on that first feed page.  You can also search for items. I do this ALL the time. Being a bride-to-be, I have searched for everything in white: Dress, Jumpsuit, Romper, Shoes… etc. and the results have been awesome.  I highly recommend Poshmark for brides to buy and sell those wedding wardrobe related wear once items. It’s not like you’re as emotionally attached to your bridal shower outfit as you might be to your wedding gown, so sell it once you’re done, let another bride love it!

Many of me and Sam’s items were purchased and are being resold on Poshmark - check our closets: here and here

Make reasonable offers on items you want, add a few items into a bundle from a seller, or just click Buy Now - and that's it!  The seller will receive your offer, accept or counter the offer, then ship your items. Now, this isn’t Amazon Prime so expect it to take about a week from the time you make to offer to receiving it. Poshmark uses priority shipping so it's technically 1 day shipping but that the seller has 7 days to get the item out in the mail, which is the part that oftens stalls the process, but check out the seller's stats to see how quickly they usually get items out to the buyer. Once your item arrives you will Accept receipt of the item in the app, unless of course the item arrived not as described, then you let Poshmark know so the issue can be resolved. With that said, if it doesn't fit you cannot return it to the seller - but you can post it on Poshmark to resell it!  For payment, Poshmark charges your PayPal account so payment is secure and simple.

Selling on Poshmark is a tad more involved...

First, take good photos of your items, including any defects, such as tears, stains, etc., And then fill in the details about the item honestly, especially if it has been worn. Describe the condition of the item truthfully, as you would want any seller to do for you. If you're listing the jeans you wore nearly everyday for two years before they no longer fit, describe them that way. Well loved jeans, showing wear, fair condition. Pricing well is imperative, but don’t stress about it- you can always drop the price lower, or accept a lower offer.

To make your items appear in people's feeds you want to share you items often; like multiple times per day.  You’ll want other sellers to share your items, too, and to encourage that you’ll want to reciprocate any shares you do get and seek sellers with fresh closets to share items from, too. Being a successful seller will require that you spend time on the app.  Keep an eye on the Offers section to make sure you don’t miss it when someone does make an offer to buy your items. And my goodness, enable push notifications for the app! On the buyer's end, there is nothing worse than an unresponsive seller. You do not want to be an unresponsive seller, so enable push notifications, and spend time on the app. It’s not like its hard ;)
